There is an exciting opportunity to join the economic division at the Embassy of Hungary in Wellington. We are looking for a recent Graduate or Entry level Trade Assistant who is keen to start career in a small team that is working on advancing economic ties between Hungary and New Zealand.

You will have a keen interest in trade, international relations and/or politics and understand the New Zealand landscape, and have a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. economic, politics, international relations or commerce). You will also have strong writing and communications  skills and the ability to fit into a team working in a dynamic project environment.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Monitor the New Zealand economy and provide information on changes.
  • Foster and maintain internal and external relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  • Contribution and support to wider Embassy team.
  • Following news related to foreign trade policy and writing weekly reports on the findings.

About you:

To be an Assistant Trade Officer at the Embassy of Hungary, you will have experience and/or can demonstrate the following:

  • Results focused and ability to adapt
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Problem solving skills
  • Understanding of trade issues and barriers to New Zealand
  • Ability to deliver in an environment that could be high pressure and rapidly changing.
  • Knowledge of Hungarian culture (preferable)
  • Hungarian language (preferable)
  • Full COVID vaccination status (preferable)

 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or post-graduate qualification in, economics, international relations, public policy, commerce or politics.
