There is an exciting opportunity to join the economic division at the Embassy of Hungary in Wellington. We are looking for a recent Graduate or Entry level Trade Assistant who is keen to start career in a small team that is working on advancing economic ties between Hungary and New Zealand.

You will have a keen interest in trade, international relations and/or politics and understand the New Zealand landscape, and have a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. economic, politics, international relations or commerce). You will also have strong writing and communications skills and the ability to fit into a team working in a dynamic project environment.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Monitor the New Zealand economy and provide information on changes.
- Foster and maintain internal and external relationships with stakeholders and partners.
- Contribution and support to wider Embassy team.
- Following news related to foreign trade policy and writing weekly reports on the findings.
About you:
To be an Assistant Trade Officer at the Embassy of Hungary, you will have experience and/or can demonstrate the following:
- Results focused and ability to adapt
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Problem solving skills
- Understanding of trade issues and barriers to New Zealand
- Ability to deliver in an environment that could be high pressure and rapidly changing.
- Knowledge of Hungarian culture (preferable)
- Hungarian language (preferable)
- Full COVID vaccination status (preferable)
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree or post-graduate qualification in, economics, international relations, public policy, commerce or politics.
