A strong show of Ambassadors, diplomats, MFAT colleagues, Mayors, and other dignitaries to have a friendly game, but also to support Ukraine!

The V4 Diplomatic Tennis Cup was organized for the second time in Wellington, this time under the Slovak Presidency. It was organized by the Hungarian and Polish Embassies in Wellington, as well as the Auckland-based Honorary Consuls of Slovakia and Czechia on May 12, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand.

30+ players competed in the Renouf Sports Center, including the US, and Argentinian Ambassadors, and sports-loving diplomats and their relatives from Iran, India, Spain, Hungary, and Poland. We also had the pleasure to have Andy Foster, the former Mayor of Wellington, and Grant Smith, Mayor of Palmerston North amongst the players. Many other ambassadors and friends joined us to support the players.

Alongside the tennis tournament, guests were able to enjoy some Central European food and beverages, the Visegrad 4 nature photo exhibition and the Polska exhibition provided by the Polish Embassy. As last year, the event created an opportunity to support humanitarian assistance to Ukraine through donations. It was great to have representatives of the Ukrainian Community at the event.
