In the spirit of post-pandemic reconnect, a New Zealand delegation had strong and multifaceted program in Budapest.

An MFAT delegation led by Mr. Taha MacPherson, Head of the Europe Division visited Budapest between 29 September and 2 October for political consultations. H.E. Brian Hewson, New Zealand's Ambassador to Hungary, and Ms. Vanessa O'Neill, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Regional Director for Europe have also joined the delegation, from Vienna and London respectively, putting the focus on trade and investment opportunities created by the conclusion of the EU-NZ Free Trade Agreement last year. With meetings covering security policy, regional and multilateral issues, as well as economy and trade, and with site visits to leading Hungarian companies, the trip provides a solid basis for forging even stronger ties. Honorary Consul of New Zealand to Hungary, Mr. Rezső Sárdi has received a well-deserved extension to serve New Zealand citizens in Hungary. Congratulations!
